         ISRO is the very known name for those, who know the great works have been done by this organization for the mankind to the countrymen and for the nation. ISRO, the “Indian Space Research Organization” is the space agency of the Indian government,  headquartered in the  city of Bangalore. ISRO was formed on 15 august, 1969 at the day of Indian Independence day by Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. Since then ISRO travelled a very long distance in the field of space technology indigenously and gave a lot of moments of proud to all the Indians with it’s world class technologies and achievements.
         With the motto line "harness space technology for national development" ISRO is serving India and world.

1. ISRO was established 8 years after Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission  (SUPARCO) .   ISRO till date has launched 65 satellites in comparison to Pakistan 2 satellites.

2. SLV-3 was India’s first indigenous satellite launch vehicle and Sir A.P.J. Abdul Kalam  was the director of the project.

3. ISRO is one of the six space agencies in the world which has the capability to launch satellites from its own land.

4. Apart from its 65 own satellites, ISRO has launched 57 satellites for 21 different countries including USA, Australia, Newzeland and many more. ISRO is known for its very cheap space missions thats why very popular in the world space community.

5. Chandrayaan-1 was India’s first unmanned lunar probe which successfully entered the lunar orbit in and joining the elite group among other nations. Chandrayan-1 (First loonar mission of India) discovered water on Moon.

6. Bhuvan is a web-based 3D satellite imagery tool developed by ISRO and it works like like Google Earth, it can be used with PC or mobile app. This is the "Google Earth of India".

7. When most of the countries depends on USA based GPS system for their navigational purpose, India has successfully launched its own navigational satellites, IRNSS.

8. ISRO made India is the only one country who has reached to the MARS in its very first attempt !. And that also in just 400 crores which is very cheap mission for Mars comparison to others, it was a record cost of $74 million.

9. ISRO have already spent about $1.6 billion for the past launches and is planning to spend about $1.34 billion for 2013 for their other space programs.

1. During the 1980s, satellites were transported on bicycles and bullock carts.The first rocket launched by ISRO was transported on an old jeep and a faulty crane.

2. ISRO’s Mars mission is the cheapest so Mars mission , where the project cost were just Rs. 450 crore, we can say Rs. 12 per km, equivalent to Auto fare.
