Indian Rail : Type Of Trains In India





1.METRO



Metro is the most rapid transit system in India now days, where it stabilized. Some cities of India now operating the Metro services for their citizens as the most reliable and traffic free transport in the country. Very first in India Metro was introduced in Kolkata in 1984, as the 17th zone of Indian Railways and was operated on about 28 km. of long distance. The Delhi Metro was India's first modern metro and the third rapid transit system in India overall, after the Kolkata Metro and Chennai Mass Rapid Transit System (Chennai MRTS), beginning operations in 2002. After its inauguration in Delhi this Metro serving its service on the 213 km. long route with 160 stations in the present and the elaboration of  other routes are in under construction. Metro known as the life line of Delhi transportation system in present. Except Delhi there are so many cities are also operating the Metro services in their starting stages.


2.MONO RAIL



Mumbai mono rail is the only Mono rail system in the country. It is the first monorail in India since the Kundala Valley Railway and Patiala State Monorail Trainways were closed in the 1920s. Construction began in 2009 and the first operational line, between Wadala Depot and Chembur, was opened to the public on 2 February 2014. This is an elevated path rail system in Mumbai and required so much work on it.



3.TOY TRAIN

There are 5 trains in India called Toy trains as they are small in size and very beautiful in looks. These beautiful trains runs on such some beautiful hill stations and operated by Indian Railways.

  • Darjeeling Himalayan Railway

Darjelling toy train meanders through the lower reaches of the Eastern Himalayas to the undulating hills and lush green tea plantations in Darjeeling. Darjelling toy train is the oldest of the historic toy train railways in India. The train links the town of New Jalpaiguri in the plains to the lovely hill station of Darjeeling. The tiny century-old engine is a connoisseur’s delight. The 86-km long Darjeeling line allows the traveler an uninterrupted view of the magnificent scenery of the Himalayas.


  • Matheran Hill Railway

The 77-year-old line is the main way to reach the tiny hill station Matheran, close to Mumbai. The Matheran toy train had its first run in 1907. Since then the train transfers passengers to the greenery of the tranquil and pollution free hill station of Matheran where vehicles are banned making the place a peaceful and unusual retreat. The toy train runs between sunrise and sunset.


  • Ooty Nilgiri Mountain Railway

The Nilgiri Mountain railway begins its journey from the town of Mettupalayam, after several twists and turns; this narrow gauge train ascends 46 km to the hill resort of Ooty, India’s southern state of Tamil Nadu. The historic railway line was completed in 1899; 45 years after the first plans were drawn up. Both first class and second class seating are offered on the toy train. The 16 tunnels and the tall girder bridges on the way.


  • Kalka-Shimla Railway

Built by the British in 1903, the railway was used by the officers to get access to Shimla, the summer capital of India. Declared as World Heritage by UNESCO, this railway journey offers one of the most scenic train journeys in India. It covers 96 km of track in 6 hours. The train stops at some of the picturesque stations along the way.


4.LUXURY TRAINS

  • Palace On Wheels

This magnificent train was started on January 26, India’s Republic Day, in 1982 then train service was refurbished and relaunched in August 2009 with a new looks and more luxury facilities. Palace On Wheels is the best Royal Indian Train and world’s 4th best luxury train. The train has 14 salons, two Restaurant named as Maharaja Restaurant and Maharani Restaurant, with other world class facilities like exotic bar, Spa, Live TV, internet connectivity, music and security


  • The Maharajas Express

First commercial run of the Maharajas Express was on January 9th, 2010. It is the newest and most costly luxury train in India, equipped with world class facilities including large dining, bar, lounge, generator, LCD TVs, direct dial phone, internet, individual temperature controls and in suite bathroom as well. The Royal Sojourn offer royal experience to explore illuminating destinations in India.


  • The Golden Chariot

A luxury tourist train started to connect most popular tourist spots in the state of Karnataka and Goa. The luxury train has two restaurants, a lounge bar, conference room, gym and spa facilities. The ultimate luxury train was named after the renowned ‘Stone Chariot’ of Hampi and commercial run on March 10, 2008.   • Royal Rajasthan on Wheels

The train is equipped with facilities like super deluxe rooms, Restaurants, bar, board room, fitness center, spa, saloons and enabled Wi-Fi. Royal Rajasthan luxury train launched its royal journey from January, 2009 and take you to the heritage destinations of Rajasthan and Agra.


  • The Deccan Odyssey

The Deccan Odyssey is a special luxury train run by venture of Maharashtra MTDC and Indian railway. This is the 5-star hotel on wheels covers the heritage site of Maharashtra. The new express luxury train of India has total of 21 luxury coaches equipped with restaurants and a bar, a sauna, business center, Computers and internet connectivity. There is another  train called The Indian Maharaja – Deccan Odyssey runs from Mumbai to New Delhi is considered as the best luxury trains in the world. This train journey gives experience of heritage sites of Maharashtra and beautiful beaches in Goa on the magnificent Deccan Odyssey.


5.INDIAN RAILWAYS TRAINS

It is one of the world's largest railway networks comprising 115,000 km of track and 7,112 stations. In 2014-15, Indian Railways carried 8.397 billion passengers annually or more than 23 million passengers a day and 1.05 billion tons of freight in the year. In 2014–2015 Indian Railways had revenues of ₹1.634 trillion, one of the biggest revenue in this category in the world. Indian Railways operates lots of trains on daily and weekly basis, luxury trains and toy trains are also the service of Indian Railways, but these are some other trains from Indian Railways:-
