P V Sindhu: “The Queen of court”

             

            Yes  at the age of just 21 she made history, got first ever silver medal in Olympics as a woman for India. She is a very popular name in Indian badminton and yes in the world too. So friends let know more about this golden girl who got silver for her country and gave the chance to pumping up the chest to all the 121 crores Indians.



     
1.Born on 5th July 1995 in Hyderabad, India to P. V. Ramana and P. Vijaya. Both her parents played professional Volleyball. P V Ramanna is also a Arjun awardee.


      

2.Started badminton at the age of 8.
      

3.She learned the basics of badminton at the Indian Railway Institute in Secunderabad under the able guidance of Mehboob Ali.
      

4.Later she joined Pullela Gopichand’s badminton academy and is currently coached by him. Gopichand is also the Indian Badminton team’s chief coach.


      

5.The fact that she reports on time at the coaching camps daily, travelling a distance of 56 km from her residence, is perhaps a reflection of her willingness to complete her desire to be a good badminton player with the required hard work and commitment.


     
 6.After joining Gopichand's badminton academy, Sindhu won several titles in different  age groups tournaments.
      
7.In the international circuit she captured these titles :







  • Gold in girl’s singles at Common wealth youth games, 2011 Douglas.
  • Bronze at Asian junior championship, Lucknow 2011- girl’s singles and mixed team.
  • Gold at Asian junior championship Gimcheon 2012 in girl’s singles.
  • Gold at south Asian games, Guwahati2016 –women team and singles.
  • Bronze at Asian championship, Gimcheon 2014 in women singles.
  • Bronze at Common wealth games, Glasgow 2014 in women singles.
  • Bronze atasian games, Incheon 2014 in women singles.
  • Bronz at world championship, Guangzhou 2013 in women singles.
  • Bronze at world championship, Copenhagen 2014 in women singles.
  • Silver at Olympic, Rio de Janeiro 2016 in women singles.
  •      

       8. She awarded Padmashree the fourth highest civilian award of India in 2015.
       
       9. She also awarded Arjun award.
      
      10. Her best performance came in 2012 Li Ning China Masters Super Series competition when she defeated the 2012 London Olympics gold medalist Li Xuerui of China.
