India and the most money making tournaments too. These sports events are very
huge by the management, size, investment and also huge by that platform, which
these events provide to the sportsmen. These are some mostly viewed sports events :
- IPL (Indian Premier League)
In India IPL is the biggest sports event, by the size of the crowd who enjoy directly from stadiums, by the numbers of television viewers and by the size of that big money, used in this huge event. This is a cricket tournament in the country where cricket treated like a religion. This is also the most-attended cricket league in the world and ranks sixth among all sports leagues. The Indian Premier League (IPL) is professional Twenty20 league in India contested every year by franchise teams representing Indian cities.
IPL became the first sporting event in the world to be broadcast live on YouTube. The brand value of IPL was estimated to be US$4.5 billion in 2015 and According to BCCI, the 2015 IPL season contributed ₹11.5 billion (US$182 million) to the GDP of the Indian economy. This league was based on the Premier League of England and the NBA in the United States.

competed since the league's first season, six have won the title at least once.

- PRO KABADDI LEAGUE
Pro kabaddi League is the most popular sports league in
India after IPL. As the name shows, it is a Kabaddi tournament founded in 2014.
Kabaddi is a traditional sport of India or we can say sport of rural India.
The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is a
professional kabaddi league in India, based on the format of
the Indian Premier League T20 cricket tournament. It is
formulated as an eight-city league played in a "caravan format,"
traveling together to all 8 venues to play a total of 60 Matches.
Pro Kabaddi wants to make Pro Kabaddi, a 5-week event, happen 10 weeks a year by having two editions a year.This event raised the popularity of the sport and get this sport in to another level.
- ISL (Indian Super League)
The league runs from October to early December, with a finals series determining the champion in mid-December. The first match of the Indian Super League, between Atlético de Kolkata and Mumbai City on 12 October 2014, reportedly drew a television audience of 75 million people. The first week reportedly drew 170 million people in total. These numbers were 12 times more than what India drew for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and around 20-30 times more than what the I-League, India's other top-tier football league, drew on TEN Action and even the Premier League.
- RANJI TROPHY
Friends we can say Ranji trophy- “The gate of Indian
national cricket team”. The Ranji Trophy is a
domestic first-class cricket championship played
in India between teams representing regional cricket associations.
The competition currently consists of 27 teams, with 21 of the 29 states
in India and Delhi (which is an Union Territory), having at
least one representation. The competition is named after first Indian Cricketer
who played international cricket, Ranjitsinhji who was also known as
"Ranji". He played for England and Sussex. State teams and cricket
associations and clubs with first-class status are qualified to play in the
Ranji Trophy. While most associations are regional, like the state cricket
associations, two, Railways and Services, are pan - Indian.
- INDIAN GRAND PRIX
The Indian Grand Prix was a Formula One race in
the calendar of the FIA Formula One World Championship, which
was held at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater
Noida near New Delhi. The first edition took place on 30 October
2011, as the 17th race of the 2011 Formula One season. The inaugural
race was won by Germany's Sebastian Vettel.
The event had the potential to generate around $170 million in revenue and employ as many as 10,000 people. It is one of the few F1 races that are not subsidized by government, and has to pay $40m/year to Formula One Holdings to host the event.

The Indian Grand Prix was cancelled for the second
consecutive year following tax disputes between the FIA and the Uttar Pradesh
government. The government of UP now says that F1 is not a sport, but
entertainment and wants to levy taxes on the event.

- HIL (Hockey India League)
Hockey India League (HIL), is a professional field
hockey league in India. The league is organized by Hockey India, the
governing body for the sport in India. HIL,
along with the Indian Premier League, Indian Super League,
and Pro Kabaddi League, is considered one of the major sports leagues in
the country. Hockey India League was founded in 2013. Since beginning, the league has proven to be a financial
success for Hockey India, who were in financial disarray before the league
began. In 2015, it was reported that the federation earned a profit from the
league and television revenues.
HIL consists of six teams, with the regular season lasting
two months from January to February, with each team playing 10 games. The top
four teams at the end of the season move into the play-offs, where the
championship game decides the Hockey India League winner.
- PREMIER FUTSAL
Premier Futsal is known as, ‘The world's first
multi-national futsal tournament’. Futsal, a 5-a-side shorter variant
of football with two halves of 20 minutes each, is governed
by Futsal association of India (FAI) with accreditation from the
international governing body, (AMF). The event started very first time on
15 July and the inaugural game played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in
Chennai. After eight days and 13 matches, the final played in Goa on 24 July.
There was 6 franchises divided into two groups. All six
teams have one marquee player and a mix
of international as well as national Futsallers.
Premier Futsal has gained a lot of attention after three
marquee players – ex-Manchester United assistant manager Ryan Giggs, Barcelona
legend Ronaldinho and former AC Milan marksman Hernan Crespo – joined the
league.
Apart from them, the league had earlier signed
another Class of 92 legend Paul Scholes, former Real Madrid player Michel
Salgado and Brazilian Futsal legend Falcao. Porto's Champions League
winner Deco was also supposed to be a part of the inaugural tournament but was
ruled out due to injury.
- I LEAGUE
The I-League, is an professional league for
men's association football clubs. This event is the most known Football
tournament in Indiia. Contested by 7 clubs (currently), it operates on a system
of promotion and relegation with the I-League 2nd
Division as well as a system of direct-entry. Seasons run from
January to May, with teams playing 18 matches each, totalling 90 matches in the
season. Most games are usually played in the afternoons during the weekends or
midweeks.
The first ever I-League match took place on 24 November 2007
between Dempo and Salgaocar. The match, which took place at
theFatorda Stadium in Margao, ended 3–0 in favour of Dempo
with Chidi Edeh scoring the first ever goal in league history in the
third minute.
- NATIONAL GAMES
National games is the largest sports event for most of the
game in India. As the name indicates it is a national level tournament.
National games are mainly known for the track and field events. You can say
national games “The Desi Olympics of India”.
It comprises various
disciplines in which sportsmen from the different states
of India participate against each other. The country's first few
Olympic Games, now christened as National Games, were held in North India
(Delhi, Lahore, Allahabad, Patiala), Madras, Calcutta, and Bombay. For
several years in the mid-twentieth century, the national games were conducted
on a low key note. However, the first Modern National Games on the lines of the
Olympics were held in 1985 in New Delhi.
The National Games were
normally to be held every two years, leaving those years in which the Olympic
Games and Asian Games are scheduled.
